"One Sock is Missing" 2020, written by Charlene A. Derby, illustrated by Richard Byron
Have you ever wondered what the missing socks do when they’re on their own? One Sock is Missing provides insights into their private adventures. It also communicates their desire to be found and returned home—to the sock drawer and to their partners. Want to keep your socks from going missing? As a bonus, the book includes sock-folding tips.

"The Neighborhood Elephant" 2023, written by Barbara Heinsch, illustrated by Richard Byron
“The Neighborhood Elephant” tells a delightful story about Sara, a teenage elephant, coming to live at a farm (and the trouble she gets into). A fun, colorful book for all ages.

"Everyone Needs a Timeout" 2024, written by Shaun Davis, Charlene A. Derby, and Kelsey Weber, illustrated by Richard Byron.
In October 2020, one of my Inktober creations - featuring a dizzy mom with her family swirling around her - became the inspirational spark behind this book project. It is an illustrated informational guide to navigate stress throughout the many stages of life, for children and adults - as well as pets! We hope it motivates you to take a timeout for yourself.

Rancho Yolo Tree Guide. Concept by Jon Reuter, created by Richard Byron.
This was a project for the Rancho Yolo Community Association. Jon Reuter likened the circular street design of Rancho Yolo to rings on a tree stump. From that idea, this image was created. Always happy to work with the fine people at Rancho Yolo.

Newport Bay Watershed graphic, 2014. Published in a scientific research paper.
A report for watershed contaminants requested a revised map of the various watershed locations. This was probably one of the more technical and accurate graphics I’ve had to make.

"Mussels of the Upper Klamath River, Oregon and California" 2017. Research paper for California Fish & Game.
A technical map of the Klamath River, Oregon and California. Accuracy was key for this one as well.
